Tahoma Bears - Week 3 Recap

The Tahoma Bears had a great third week of competition. The week began with our first home dual of the season vs. Kennedy Catholic. This is Kennedy’s first year in our league and their first year in the 4A Classification. The Bears welcomed them with a 84-0 win in front of a great home crowd. The Bears won each of the matches wrestled by fall. This weekend, the Bears competed at two different tournaments. The Varsity team was in Northern Idaho, at the TriState Tournament. The tournament, in its 45th year is held at Northern Idaho College. The Bears preformed well taking 6th place as a team, with five individual placers. The Bears had a champion at 195 pounds when Kione Gill won an 8-1 match over Jared Walker of Lakeland High School. Tahoma had another finalist in Dagen Kramer at 220 pounds who took 2nd place. The team had three other placers: Austin Michalski (5th) Ryden Fu (5th) and Dylan Weiding (8th). All but two wrestlers were able to win matches and score points for the Bears. The JV team took 4th place at the varsity level Nathan Hale tournament. Both Joe Novak and Justin Sipila won their weight classes and freshman Marlon Killion took 2nd at 106 pounds.
